Cup and Saucer, about 1750-1799
Glazed porcelain
This is a matching porcelain cup and saucer. The short round cup has stylized colorful birds and a foliage motif in deep hues of purple, blue, gold and red. There is a wave- like purple pattern with a gilded edge on the top and bottom of the cup. The handle is ear shaped. The saucer is wide and flared, repeating the stylized birds, purple wave and gilded pattern around the edge. The underside has a number written on it that indicated either a pattern number or a manufacturer’s code.
