A pen drawing of James McNeil Whistler on white paper and done in dark brown ink. Whistler is depicted as an adult male, seated, slighted hunched over, in a folding chair and facing our left. He has a prominent mustache and beard, with his dark hair peaking out from his brimmed hat. He is dressed in a coat and vest, with a bowtie around his neck. His pants go up to his waist, and he wears a pair of laced boots. Whistler seems to be on a porch, as he is surrounded with sketched designs that resemble the siding of a house, a column, and leaves belonging to trees above him, as well as a large potted pant all the way to our left. Written on the bottom right is "Th: Nast. Aug - 1875."
