This rectangular Persian lacquer box has a flat top, bottom, and sides and resembles a closed book in proportions. We see if from above such that its top and the front face are visible. The top is decorated with highly detailed patterns and borders, in colors that appear to be shades of blue and green. The outermost border is relatively narrow and has a simple pattern. The next is slightly wider with deeper coloring. The innermost border appears to be identical in width and pattern to the first. The center section is rectangular with intricate patterning similar to the borders. In the very center there is a white diamond-shaped outline with extensions at the front and back ends, stretching parallel to the lateral sides of the top face. In the extension closest to the viewer there is a motif that resembles a human face. The front side of the box is partially visible, and decorated in a pattern similar to the top.
