This pair of oversized, wrought iron, oil lamps has been converted into fireplace andirons by connecting two identical lamps with a heavy iron crosspiece at the lower end. The set is as tall as a small adult and has a plethora of scrolling ironwork decoration. The lamps’ main part is a pair of identical, tall, iron elements with several ball forms interspersed along their length. There are openwork cups at the top decorated with molded lion heads. They end in wide, scrolling, iron ribbon-like feet. There are two triangular sections of graceful, wrought iron curlicues at the top and bottom. The upper set of curlicues projects towards the center and allows iron chains with hooks to hang from them. A pair of small, iron, wick holders with spouts is attached to one of the chains.
