This rectangular etching is positioned horizontally. It is a bust-length, seated double portrait of Mr. and Mrs. Furstenberg. Mr. Furstenberg is seated furthest to our right. He has a receding hairline on both sides, with hair on the top and back of his head. He has a long nose, wide eyes, and a full beard. He wears a tweed jacket, a dark tie, and a white shirt, and appears to be holding a cigar in his left hand and a large newspaper in his right. Mrs. Furstenberg is seated to his right and slightly further back. Her hair is pulled up and back from her face with a fastener or bow. She has a long face with a pointed chin, and delicate facial features. She wears a black dress with a high neck and long sleeves with a decorative chain on her right chest pocket. She has her left arm and hand resting on the chair back. Behind and just to our left of the figures is a wide window from which light enters the room.
Entered Isabella Stewart Gardner's collection at an unknown date.
