Provenance
Purchased by Isabella Stewart Gardner from Belisaris, Rome for 4,500 lire on 1 April 1895 through the American painter and collector Ralph W. Curtis (1854–1922).
Commentary
Isabella Stewart Gardner kept meticulous records of many of her acquisitions. In keeping with this legacy, object information is continually being reviewed, updated, and enriched in order to give greater access to the collection.
