English, white glazed creamware, inkstand that is octagonal with outwardly curved sides in the front and back. The top and bottom edges of the inkstand are painted dark blue. The front of the stand has a cutout design featuring pairs of leaves with a circle between them. The left and right sides of the stand have cutout vertical slots. The top of the stand has three circular inlaid containers that have raised rims outlined in dark blue. The container on the left is covered with black stains that are most likely from ink. The right container has a circular design made up of six exterior dots with one dot in the center. A couple of the dots also have black ink stains.

The center container has a brown stand with a framed photograph on top of it. The frame for the picture is a muted bronze color, oval shaped, and there is a pattern of elongated diamonds that wraps completely around the frame and forms a bow at the top. Inside the frame there is a black and white image of Isabella Stewart Gardner from the chest up. Her clothing goes all the way up to the top of her neck and she is wearing a hat with a large feather in it.

Behind the three containers there is the bust of a man that is taller than the portrait of Isabella Stewart Gardner. The head of the bust features short dark blue hair and a dark blue beard and mustache. The lips are gold colored and pieces of the nose appear to be flaking off. On both sides of the bust there is a dark blue leaf motif. The torso of the bust is white except for two dark blue vertical stripes on each side, and between these stripes there is a gold colored seven pointed motif that is shaped similar to a leaf.
