Comissioned by a certain Satria Eucarpia for her husband Valerius Crocus in the 2nd century CE.Documented in the studio of an architect named Carmini (or Carminium) on the via di San Giovanni in Laterano, Rome in 1881. Another cinerarium in the Gardner collection (museum no. S8w8) was also documented in this location at this time.Possibly purchased by Isabella Stewart Gardner from the Galleria Sangiorgi, Rome on 13 April 1895.
