Enameled in blue (lid): Four characters read, "May wealth and high rank last ten thousand years."
Stamped (bottom): One small character, "shou" (longevity) in the center of a chrysanthemum flower
Provenance
Entered Isabella Stewart Gardner’s collection at an unknown date, but probably acquired during her trip to Asia in 1883-84.
Commentary
Isabella Stewart Gardner kept meticulous records of many of her acquisitions. In keeping with this legacy, object information is continually being reviewed, updated, and enriched in order to give greater access to the collection.
