Italian, rectangular, horizontal mirror is made with a frame of gilded poplar wood. The frame has a pattern of carved vines and flowers surrounding it. The mirror has a convex etched image of Aeneas and Venus standing on the ground and surrounded by trees and bushes that are shorter than they are. Aeneas is depicted on our left, looking towards Venus on the right. His right arm is slightly raised, while his left arm is bent at the elbow and placed on his waist, where he holds a long piece of cloth. He is wearing full armor with a skirt that falls to his thighs and a helmet. Venus is nude, and holding a bow in her left hand and looking at Aeneas. Her hair is in a bun, and she is wearing a half moon on the top of her forehead. She is touching her left breast with her right hand, her weight on her right leg. Her left leg is pointed behind her.
