Bridal Chest, 16th century

This Spanish, rectangular, carved walnut bridal chest has wrought iron handles and hardware. The center of the front of the chest is decorated with a circular carved medallion of the bust of a male figure wearing a hat and is outlined with a raised wreath. There is a wrought iron plate and keyhole above it and has raised wooden slats on each side. There is a wrought iron bracket at the top and bottom of each corner of the chest. The side of the chest is plain with wrought iron handles.
