This horizontal pencil and ink drawing depicts the scene of Europa being kidnapped by the bull. Much of drawing has been executed with thin brown lines; multiple hatch marks and shading are used for darker areas. In the center of the paper, the bull faces to our right with Europa on his back.  The bull appears to be intent on moving forward. Aside from his head, neck, shoulders, one front leg, and his tail,  his body is concealed by Europa and her clothing. His head is in profile with his right eye and nostril visible; there is  a garland around his neck. The bull’s tail swings forward and wraps around Europa’s leg. Europa sits sidesaddle on the bull, holding one of his horns with her left hand and the curls on his forehead with her right. Her head is twisted even further to our left, and her expression is one of concern. She wears a long sleeveless dress that is pulled up to her knees. Her long hair sweeps over her neck and left shoulder. A scarf is billowing behind her head and back.  In the lower corner to our right is a curly-haired cherub with its left arm reaching out and its right hand holding an arrow. Behind the bull and to our left are two young women wearing long dresses. One of the women has her left arm held up, waving to Europa.
