This enamel on copper plaque is similar in the shape of an arch. The plaque has a gilt frame with a rectangular base and a decorative top that has two simple scrolls sprouting from each side of a small round ornament. The frame has a small bracket at the back bottom to keep the plaque upright. The scene depicts Pietà – the Virgin Mary mourning the dead body of Christ after his Crucifixion. Jesus' body is stretched across Mary's lap while his he'd appears to be held by one of the two female figures flanking Mary. Mary is dressed in blue robes; the other women are in purplish tones. They all have headdresses with haloes behind those. The woman of the left (supporting Jesus' head) is looking at Mary. The woman on the right is looking out at us; she is holding something gold in her left hand while her right is held to her heart. Mary (with her hands in prayer) is looking at Jesus. Jesus is wrapped in a white loincloth, the same white as his skin, except for the red blood wounds on his chest, face, throat, hands, and feet. His left arm rests along his side, while his right has slipped down toward the ground, hand curled. Jesus' hair is blond and he wears a crown of thorns. The scene has some greenery and in the distance a medieval castle. A gold cross is directly behind Mary and the letters INRI are painted in black on a white background above.
