Armchair, 17th century
Walnut upholstered in leather, 106.7 x 63.5 x 40.6 cm (42 x 25 x 16 in.)
This armchair is crafted from walnut and two wide dark blue leather strips, which function as the chair seat and back. The wood frame has a simple chevron-like pattern carved onto the front legs and the area of the back posts above the seat. The stretcher between the front two legs has symmetrical circular cutouts on the top and bottom and three rectangular shapes at center. The leather is secured to the wood with a number of metal fasteners shaped like six-petaled flowers.
