This pencil sketch is a portrait of a woman. She has a full face and intent staring eyes. Her head is tilted slightly to the viewer’s left. Her heart-shaped mouth is closed. As a whole, the lines drawn by the artist are darker on the left side of the paper, giving the appearance of the light falling from our left and illuminating that side of her face. The woman’s hair is given volume, movement and mass with long wavy vertical lines surrounding her head..
