This oval etched and stipple engraved print is positioned horizontally on a cream-colored mat. It depicts a bucolic scene with figures in the center foreground and trees in the background to the left and right. The various tones in the print are a result of the stipple effect, in which etching needles are used to create a pattern of dots of different sizes and thicknesses. Genius, the figure to our left appears as an unclothed male youth with locks of curly hair over his forehead and down over his neck. A striped wrap is tied over one shoulder and falls over his back; it covers the bench he sits on. Genius is presented in profile, holding a large round writing surface with his left arm and hand. His right arm is bent and he uses a pen or similar implement to write on the surface. Beauty, the figure to our right, appears as an unclothed woman. She sits across from Genius with a similar drape around the lower portion of her body and legs. She leans back on the railing of the bench with her hand propping her head. Her head is tilted back and her gaze is up, with hair falling back off her face. Her right arm rests lightly on her right leg. Two winged cherubs are placed between these figures. The one to our left leans into and over the writing surface. He holds a lit torch up with his left hand; he points to Genius and the text on the writing surface with his right hand. The other cherub is tucked in next to Beauty; his head is tilted over his right shoulder and his gaze is on Genius.  Etched in the lower left is G.B. Cipriani Invt.; etched on the lower right is F.
