She is kneeling and leans in from the left of the etching, and at an angle in order to be at the level with this little dog. Her youthful, smiling face is shown in profile. The dog reaches out his left paw and the lady is holding it. His right front leg is very straight. He appears to be looking either away or up at the lady. His outline and little rounded head with two dark ears and a bit of dark nose are visible.
