This enameled copper cup is slightly wider at the top than at the base. The cup is white enamel heavily decorated in rust-red, light blue, gold, and white strapwork--interlocked scrollwork and chain-like designs.  Rust-red and light blue dots intersperse the strapwork. Three images are featured on the main body of the cup: on one side, on the white background, surrounded by a rust-red circle, is the Russian Imperial symbol, the double-headed eagle, under a crown. Similarly, on the other side, on the white background, surrounded by a rust-red, blue, and gold armorial shape, is an image of the Imperial crown over the Cyrillic (Slavic/Russian) initials of Nicholas and Alexandra. Below the initials, in a small light blue and white oval, is the date "1896" in rust-red. The main body of the cup with this symbolic imagery, is delineated on the top and bottom by borders of blue, white, and rust-red chain-like design. On the lower part of the cup, below one of the chain borders, is a blue and white braid on gold with interspersed rust and blue dots. The base and under the lip are gilded. The base of the cup has a red sticker on it. A card in the cup bears the name in ink of Mr. Charles Borden. On the back of the card is largely illegible writing in pencil.
