This massive mahogany, two-part chest of drawers rests on short, unadorned, cabriole (slightly curved), square legs and feet. It houses three horizontal drawers on the bottom, and five, slightly recessed, smaller drawers above. The American-made chest is topped by a C-scroll, broken pediment (triangular shaped top) with ornate brass finials in the center and at each lateral edge. Each drawer is enlivened by a row of three, evenly-spaced quatrefoil (4-lobed) brass decorations. The outer two also bear delicate rings used to open the drawer and the center brass element has a keyhole. The center brass element of the topmost drawer is replaced by an elaborate fanned brass decoration with a small ring in the center. Rounded, unobtrusive raised vertical columns of mahogany separate the three sections of the bottom drawers while the mahogany fronts of the upper drawers are smooth. The vertical border of the upper set of drawers are outlined by fluted mahogany columns.
