A black-painted walnut cabinet and stand decorated with inlaid mother-of-pearl. The cabinet and stand flow seamlessly together, so that it is hard to tell that it is two pieces. The front of the rectangular cabinet is visually split in two by two doors. Each door has a key hole on either side of a raised vertical divider. In the center of each door is a profile. The one on our left is a man and on the right is a woman. Both face the center of the cabinet. They are surrounded by ornate frames with two dragon-like figures above and a bearded man’s face below. The frames themselves are being held up by half-naked women who’s skirts become leaves. Below the women are two satyrs holding on to curling vine branches. Above the frame are two cherubs, also holding curling vines. Two more cherubs are above, holding onto vines surrounding another bearded male face. The back of the cabinet has a small square panel with two cherubs holding up a family crest, surrounded by vines. The center panel is surrounded by ten rectangular panels, each with a knob at the bottom. The panel directly above and below the square are the same: they show a cherub holding a garland in each hand that is held by a standing satyr on the other end. The other eight rectangular panels (four on the left and four on the right) also have a cherub in the center with a seated satyr on each side of the cherub. A smaller rectangular decorative top sits atop the cabinet. The front panel has two seated angels in the center, each holding a laurel wreath. Curling vines spread horizontally from the angels to two winged dragons then continue to the edges. The bottom trim of the cabinet has a bearded man in the center with horizontally spreading vines. The cabinet has four grotesque, lion-shaped claw feet, one on each corner. The stand below has similar designs. The front edge of the table includes two male figures holding leaves. A satyr and a dragon appear to each side of the center figures. The table legs are supported by two beams that cross to form an “x.” The “x” is decorated with leaves and vines. At the rear of the table is a panel that is decorated with a horned man in the center surrounded by vines, cherubs, and mermen.
