This gilded bronze lock is a highly decorated, vertical plate. A raised panel border runs along the sides and bottom. Inside the border on both sides of the plate are symmetrical carvings set in a column. In the top space is a hole, and below that is a pitcher with carvings along the body, neck, and handle. Below the pitcher is a carved face, and under that is what appears to be a plant with an acorn like object. The final space contains a hole. The center contains more carvings, at the top are elaborately carved helmets and breastplates on both sides. Below these are carved oval frames., the right frame contains the keyhole. Below the frames are two figures, naked except for wraps, in a sitting position. The figure on the left appears to be a male; he has his right leg crossed over his left, his right arm held behind with the hand down, and his left arm bent up with the hand over his head. The figure on the right appears to be a female; she has her right leg crossed over her left, her left arm behind with her hand down, and her right arm held up and hanging down in front. These figures appear to be holding up the frames above them.
