A white and gold lacquered rectangular Japanese cigarette box. The white paint is cracked with age, with a few larger chips around the box. The lid of the box has a series of carved petals radiating out from the center. The petal shapes create a curved texture around the edges of the lid, which are continued around the sides of the box. The exterior of the box has no straight edges. Each petal on the lid is outlined in gold. The gold lines of the petals continue down the sides of the box. They visually segment the box into sections. Returning to the lid, the petal lines connect at a gold circle in the center. A landscape is painted in the gold circle depicting a snow-capped mountain in the background with trees on the right and two man-made structures on the left. The scene is painted in black and red to make it stand out from the gold. The interior of the box is black and appears to be filled with playing cards.
