This vertical, rectangular wall mirror has an elaborately carved frame and mirrored glass with a beveled, or sloping, edge. The frame is made of gilded Swiss stone pine. The part of the frame closest to the glass is painted green, and has four different styles of molding that are decorated with a thin layer of gold. Surrounding the frame is a carved and pieced border made up of a freely curving, continuous branch with leaves and flowers intertwined with a ribbon. Various mythological motifs decorate the top, bottom, and sides. At the top center, the motif has a large, central oval medallion. The background is painted green and a gilded figure holds an oak loaf and stands before an altar where a suit of armor with a shield has been placed. A similarly decorated, but smaller medallion is located in the center of each side and on the bottom border. In the bottom oval is a head in profile; to our left is a centaur, a mythological figure that is half man, half horse; and on the right is a Nereid, a female spirit of the sea. Each corner has a projecting plaque decorated with a basket weave, tooled background, and the skull of an ox.
