This oil painting depicts a rural country scene near a stream.   A light-skinned woman sitting on the side of a stream is the focus of this peaceful setting.  She is dressed in a long blue skirt, red blouse and white scarf around her head and shoulders.  Her bare left foot is visible below her skirt and she holds a basket on her lap.  Her right arm is pointed across her chest and her left arm rests on the ground.   To our left is a young boy who leans into the woman’s side.  He wears short white pants and a green and white shirt.  What appears to be a brown metal vessel hangs at his waist.  He has light brown hair and light skin, his chin rests on his right arm and his left arm is draped across the woman’s chest.  There is a light tan scarf and bronze-colored urn resting on the ground to our right.   To our right is another young boy standing in the stream with his back to the viewer.   He holds a fishing pole in his outstretched left hand.   He has brown curly hair, light skin, short white pants and a brown and green shirt.  He also has a bronze colored object hanging at his waist.  The sleeves of his shirt are rolled up to reveal his bare arms.   Further to our right in the distance are two figures on the shore of the stream.  One female figure is dressed in light tan and white and the other bent-over figure wears a blue bottom and white top.   Further in the distance another figure that appears to be a woman is walking on the path from the stream to the city.  The stream and its rocky shore are seen on our right side of the painting.   The outline of a town with a clock tower is visible in the distance.  Light blue colored mountains rise behind the city and the cloud-filled pale blue sky has a few birds visible on high.  On our left are trees with green and brown leaves in a darkly wooded area.
