This painting of a snow covered mountain is done in thin watercolor washes on paper. The composition is organized into three horizontal sections. A dark, thin band of gray-green trees in the middle ground is sandwiched and squeezed between a double humped huge, white mountain in the background and low gray-green and brown shrubs and earth in the foreground. The shape of the bushes and mound in the foreground mimics the contours of the mountain in the background. It appears to be winter because the trees are largely evergreen conifers; the shrubs and grass are primarily brown; the blue sky is washed in gray; the shadows from the shrubs look pale in the weak light; and because the mountain is snow covered from top to bottom.
