A horizontal watercolor on paper of two young women sitting back to back on the ground in the center with their outstretched legs extending to the opposite sides of the painting. The painting is rendered with large brush strokes and little fine detail. Both women have brown hair and light skin. They are seen in profile, their hair swept up in loose buns. Other than the contour of their medium light noses and chins their features are not given. The woman on the left wears a light blue dress which covers her legs with a white collar set away from her neck and elbow length sleeves from which her lower arms rest on her lap and hold an upright book. The woman on the right has a short white jacket which appears to be open in the center where we see a bright blue shirt.  A high waisted grey skirt covers her legs. Her bare lower arms appear to be stretched out on her lap. The bare feet of both can be seen peeking out from the bottom of their skirts. A bright blue bundle with a dash of red rests in the front right on the beige ground which constitutes the foreground. The background sky is painted in broad swatches of light blue, green and off-white with one narrow and one wider grey tree trunk lining the right side of the painting.  At the bottom left the artist has signed his work.
