He wears a dark brown jacket over a white dress shirt with stand-up collar and wing tips, and he sports a dark brown tie with gold and blue design.  The light falls on the right side of the portrait, falling on his hair and that side of his face. The background looks hastily painted and surrounds his head with wide turquoise brushwork that changes to gold towards the outside edges.
