This framed gold-and-tempera painting on panel features two separate vignettes within its elaborate pointed frame. Within the lower panel is the Virgin Mary seated on a throne in the center, with the baby Jesus on her lap. Their light blue throne is on a platform above a floor with a diamond-shaped design, and it is draped with a fabric that has a geometrical design and extends over part of the platform.  The Virgin is facing to your right, with eyes cast downward. The baby Jesus also faces to your right, but he looks out and appears to be holding something in his left hand, which is outstretched to your right. The Virgin’s robe is dark blue and the baby’s clothing is yellow-orange. To each side of the throne are two saints, a female saint below and a male saint above. At both the left and right outside edges of the painting there are two more saints, one above another, standing in vertical niches. All four of these saints are male. Just visible above the throne are five angels, over which there is a scalloped arch with a dark blue starry sky. The ornate frame is gold and has architectural features. The left and right edges of the base project outward. From these edges rise, along the left and right sides of the painting, a slender twisted column with a leafy capital at the top and a vase above it. The upper part of the frame is triangular, with ornamentation on both sides and at the pointed top. Inside this triangle is a three-leaf clover shape with the painted head and torso of the adult Jesus, who gazes out at the viewer. He holds a book with a Latin inscription.
