This drawing of the head and neck of a man is executed in a thin outline of faint black chalk on cream colored paper. The man is wearing a lightly shaded, rounded cap pulled over his hair and upper forehead. The cap has pointed ear flaps that are turned up to make way for thick, wavy, shoulder length hair that brushes his collar. His nose is straight and prominent between slightly sunken cheekbones. His skin is smooth although there are bags under his eyes. His chin is cleft and pointed. The man’s head and eyes are turned slightly to the viewers right so that his right cheek is visible but part of his left cheek is hidden. His eyes engage the viewer solemnly. The expression on his face is neutral, guarded, unsmiling.
