Free First Thursday - February

Thursday
February 5, 2026

3 - 9 pm
Throughout the Museum

Join us for February’s Free First Thursday and celebrate the musical legacy of lyric tenor and composer Roland Hayes, who performed in the Tapestry Room on his 80th birthday in 1967 before an illustrious audience of artists and politicians. Live music will once again fill the Museum as we invite you to a performance in the Courtyard by Tim Hall.

In the Bertucci Education Studio, try your hand at the long-lost art of letterlocking: how papers were folded and sealed before the invention of the envelope. Artist and scholar Jana Dambrogio will teach you some fun and usable locks and then send you on a scavenger hunt through the galleries.

Café G is closed for repars from January 29 through February 16, 2026, but you can shop Gift at the Gardner while you’re here. Admission is free from 3 – 9 pm.
