Jennifer Wild Czajkowski

2015 Educator-in-Residence

Jennifer Wild Czajkowski, Vice President for Learning & Interpretation at the Detroit Institute of Arts, was the 2015 Gardner Museum Educator-in-Residence.

Czajkowski is a member of the DIA’s strategic leadership team with responsibility for the areas of interpretation, school programs, adult and family learning, studio, and docent development. Since the DIA’s successful 2012 campaign for public tax support, Czajkowski has re-oriented the Learning & Interpretation division to maintain the DIA’s school and community partnerships while expanding learner-centered practices throughout the museum.

From 2002-2007, Czajkowski was the lead interpretive educator on the DIA's innovative and comprehensive reinstallation project. She was instrumental in implementing exhibition development processes involving cross-disciplinary teams, visitor outcomes, and evaluation. She continues to work with her senior leadership colleagues to apply visitor-centered ways of thinking museum-wide.

Czajkowski is a strong national advocate for the visitor-centered museum, and currently serves as the museum division representative for the Professional Learning through Research working group of the National Art Education Association (NAEA). In her 20 years at the DIA, Czajkowski has been a major contributor to the ongoing dialogue about innovative interpretive practices in community engagement, art making programs, and K-12 programming.
