Allan Rohan Crite: The Dean of African American Arts in New England

Diana Seave Greenwald is an art historian and economic historian. She currently serves as the William and Lia Poorvu Curator of the Collection at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, where she has curated Betye Saar: Heart of A Wanderer and Fellow Wanderer: Isabella Stewart Gardner’s Travel Albums, among other exhibitions. Prior to joining the Gardner, she was an Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., working in the departments of American and British Paintings and Modern Prints and Drawings. Her first book, Painting by Numbers: Data-Driven Histories of Nineteenth-Century Art, was published by Princeton University Press in 2021. She holds a BA in Art History from Columbia University, an M.Phil. in Economic and Social History from the University of Oxford and a D.Phil. in History from the University of Oxford.

Julie Levin Caro – A professor of art history and chair of the Art Department at Warren Wilson College, Caro is a specialist in modern American art and African American art. She has published on the illustrated spirituals of Boston-based artist Allan Rohan Crite and the collage and stain glass window designs of activist artist Jean Lacy. Her background in museum education and curation also supports her undergraduate teaching, and she has established the College’s Holden Art Gallery as a center for interdisciplinary and diversity teaching and learning.

Ted Landsmark is a Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and Urban Affairs and the Director of the Kitty and Michael Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy. Landsmark has been a civic planner, civil rights and equity advocate, higher education administrator, arts and culture researcher, and community-engaged social activist in Boston and nationally. He additionally serves on the leadership committee of the Northeastern University Faculty Senate.

Johnetta Tinker, a resident of Boston, Massachusetts, graduated from Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas, with a Bachelor of Art Education degree and Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts, with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Art Education. Tinker's work has been shown in numerous art exhibits and traveling art exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. Recent exhibitions include: Rebirth Art Gallery, Durban, South Africa, 2023; University Museum at Texas Southern University, Houston Texas, 2023; and solo exhibitions at John Moakley Courthouse Gallery, Boston, Massachusetts, 2022 and Northeastern Crossing City and Community Affair, Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, 2018–2019. Tinker has painted murals in Houston, TX and Boston, MA; designed interactive exhibits; and coordinated mural art projects with neighborhood community centers in the Boston area. She has illustrated brochures and books including This Bridge Called My Back (Persephone Press, 1981).
