Johnetta Tinker, a resident of Boston, MA, graduated from Texas Southern University, Houston, TX, with a Bachelor of Art Education degree and Boston University, Boston, MA, with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Art Education.
Tinker's work has been shown in numerous art exhibits and traveling art exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. Tinker has painted murals in Houston, TX and Boston, MA, most recently, Mentoring Murals with Now+There arts organization 2021, Madison Park Village Development Corporation, Boston, MA, The Boston Children’s Museum, Boston Black Exhibition, designed interactive exhibits and has coordinated several mural art projects with neighborhood community centers in the Boston area. She illustrated brochures and books including, This Bridge Called My Back, Persephone Press, 1981.
Tinker has participated in several artist-in-residency and art exchange programs including the Indian Arts Institute Museum, Santa Fe, NM, the Massachusetts Guangdong China Art Exchange, and Artpark, Lewistion, NY. Tinker has also lectured on art with special attention to Ancient Nubia and to the master artist John Biggers with whom she studied.
