Member Event: Writings & Rappings

Halloween is the perfect time for campfires, s’mores, and haunting tales. Get into the spooky spirit at the Gardner Museum with an event that will give you goosebumps!

If you’ve visited the galleries at night, you know they can take on a magical and delightfully mysterious vibe, with “candlelit” galleries casting plenty of shadows and works of art telling stories of people from long ago. It would have been the perfect setting for a group of Isabella Gardner’s Victorian contemporaries, the Spiritualists, and their interest in the supernatural and the afterlife.

Two special guides will serve as your “mediums to the afterlife” for the evening. Together, you’ll explore the collection and strive to answer the question that the Spiritualists asked, “What can the dead tell us?”
