Luciano Aimar (he/him) was born in Italy, he studied ballet in Turin and then in Paris. He entered the Ballet Theatre l’Ensemble in Brussels, with whom he danced as soloist and principal. He received his master’s degree in dance therapy in Florence, Italy. Aimar started teaching ballet in Florence, as well as dance therapy programs, working with individuals with Down’s syndrome, and blindness, women living in prisons, and women cancer survivors. He moved to the United States where he worked at the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Massachusetts, and at the Creative Movement and Arts Center in Needham, Massachusetts where he successfully developed programs for children ages three months to seven years. He joined Boston Ballet School in 2005 and was named Head of the Children’s Curriculum. He wrote the APBT- American Preparatory Ballet Training©, in which he integrated his knowledge of ballet with his long experience in early childhood education. In 2018, the School of American Ballet in NYC, and in 2022, the Rock’s School for Dance Education in Philadelphia asked to adopt his APBT curriculum. In addition to his work at the BBS, he is currently also an adjunct professor at Dean College (Franklin, MA). And Dance Advisor for the WGBH children’s show Pinkalicious &; Peterrific. In 2007, he founded A Bridge of Roses, a charity that supports educational projects for children in Africa. Aimar built three schools for A Bridge of Roses.
