Adonidia merrillii

Aside from the ground covers, the pair of Christmas palms are the only plants in the Courtyard grown directly in the ground. Nearly every other plant in the Courtyard grows in a terracotta pot, allowing for routine rotations of the living collection and a perennially blooming courtyard.
