Saturday Open Studios

Free with Museum Admission

1 - 4 pm
Bertucci Education Studio

Isabella Stewart Gardner’s collection contains 177 pieces of lace originating from various European regions. For this Saturday Open Studio activity, tap into the Museum’s wealth of lace patterns as you explore monoprinting.

Using cloth and paper stencils, you’ll craft unique layered prints through the Gelli printing process, using an accessible gel plate and acrylic plate to transfer designs onto paper. This playful artmaking process highlights the intricacies of the collection’s lace patterns and allows you to engage with the textiles in a new way.
