LEARN ABOUT JOINING THE GARDNER TEAM AS A MUSEUM TEACHER

The Gardner Museum is looking for curious lifelong learners to join us as Museum Teachers, a paid position leading tours for visitors of all backgrounds. Museum Teachers have an essential role in connecting visitors to the Gardner Museum, its collection, and its changing special exhibitions. Museum Teachers are flexible, visitor-centered, curious educators who are able to meet the needs and interests of a wide range of visitors. They encourage inquiry, close looking, slowing down, making personal connections, and bringing multiple perspectives into interpretation of the Museum and its artworks.

At this information session, you'll meet Museum staff and current Museum Teachers, learn more about the program, participate in small group gallery discussion, learn about the Gardner’s approaches to education and the requirements and benefits of becoming a Museum Teacher.

Prior teaching experience or art expertise is not required.

"I walked around the galleries - thinking of my colleagues, who are now my friends. And how they contributed to my world view, thinking of the experiences of being in these spaces, acknowledging what art is and could be. I examined the work of ISG, – her installations – looking for questions and answers - to see how they comforted and challenged. I did not want to leave."
