Join us on the first Thursday of every month for a restorative evening of discovery and community. Museum admission is free from 3 pm through 9 pm and interactive programs kick off at 5 pm. Explore art, architecture, and seasonal horticulture displays in the Palace, and visit the studio for hands-on artmaking activities with Polly Thayer Starr Visiting Studio Artist Yuko Okabe.
Listen to performances by Puerto Rican cuatro player, composer, and Gardner Museum Salon Luminary Fabiola Méndez and Trio with poet Yara Liceaga Rojas in the Courtyard, and go behind the scenes with Gardner Museum Archivist Shana McKenna to learn more about works from the Museum’s archives on view in the exhibition Fellow Wanderer: Isabella's Travel Albums. Enjoy dinner and drinks at Café G.
Calderwood Hall
Enter the world of legendary artist Betye Saar and learn more about her creative practice and process in this short film, Betye Saar: Taking Care of Business, a LACMA production directed by Christine Turner and screened courtesy of LACMA. The film lasts approximately 8 minutes and will be screened on a loop with An Introduction to Isabella Stewart Gardner and the Gardner Museum throughout the evening.
Bertucci Education Studio
Find inspiration in Isabella’s travel albums and join Polly Thayer Starr Visiting Studio Artist Yuko Okabe in the Studio to create and embellish your own accordion book. Prompts and materials will be provided.
Courtyard
Join us in the courtyard for beautiful poetry and music performances intersecting the unique identities and cultures of Fabiola Méndez’s Trio infusing the genres of folkloric Caribbean sounds with Jazz and Latin influences. Each performance will be accompanied by fellow Puerto Rican writer and performer Yara Liceaga Rojas reciting original poetry.

Explore Isabella's travel albums featured in the Museum’s current exhibition Fellow Wanderer: Isabella's Travel Albums, and hear more from the Museum’s archivist Shana McKenna about these rarely-seen works. Meet by the gallery entrance to participate.
