Playing with themes from our special exhibition Fra Angelico: Heaven on Earth, we invite you to explore objects of power as you create a halo portrait in our studio, enjoy gallery games, live music, a fashion showcase, try your hand at figure drawing with live models and discover contemporary reliquaries presented by MassArt Jewelry and Metals students. Admission is always free for patrons under 17.

Programming For the Day

  • In the Bertucci Education Studio // Photograph an inspirational object in the galleries, then return to the Studio to design your own unique halo backdrop using the object you find.
  • In Calderwood Hall // At noon and 1 pm enjoy figure drawing led by artist Brigid Watson featuring models wearing designs by Neighborhood Salon Luminary Nathalia JMag.
  • In Calderwood Hall // At 3:30 pm join musicians from the New England Conservatory's honors jazz quintet for an interactive performance of jazz standards and original compositions.
  • In the Living Room // Create your own origami power gem and discover contemporary reliquaries presented by MassArt Jewelry and Metals students.
  • In the Courtyard // Enjoy ethereal electric violin by Josh Knowles featuring music from his latest project, Spin Without a Sound​ and fashion showcase by designer Nathalia JMag.
  • In the Galleries // 2:30 - 4 pm experience guided drawing with artist Brigid Watson featuring live models.

*This April Vacation Week Studio workshop series was developed in collaboration with Heather White, Professor at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in jewelry and metalsmithing.

Group Visit Policy

Due to the nature of the collection and the high attendance during vacation weeks, we cannot accommodate groups of 10 or more during School Vacation Week.
