Cozy Up

Thursday, November 21, 2019
5:30 - 9 pm
Throughout the Museum

Beat November's cold nights and short days with cozy vibes at the Gardner. Relax with self-care activities, listen to music in the Courtyard, and watch independent films by local and international artists in Calderwood Hall. Comfy clothes welcome!

Program for the Evening

Beacon for Spirits
Courtyard | 5–8:45 PM

A Boston-based “Dream Folk” trio formed originally by lead singer Riley Curda, guitarist Charlie Giargiari, and vocalist/violinist Louise Cameron. Together they pursue the creation of uncompromisingly emotional, thematic, and colorful music. They defy and transcend genre boundaries, drawing from across the musical spectrum: with a sonic basis in intimate and lyrical singer-songwriter music and folk-like Joni Mitchell, but with a tendency towards the vibrantly creative and harmonious composition styles of art rock/pop like Radiohead and Björk, and the impassioned, almost theatrical grandiosity of genres like post-rock and progressive rock.

Collective Memory: A Contemporary Film Series
Calderwood Hall | 5:30–8:30 pm

Experience the magic of the moving image through a selection of works by Gardner Museum Artists-in-Residence, Neighborhood Salon Luminaries, and local filmmakers. Ranging in length from just a few minutes to almost an hour, these works explore a range of historical, political, social, and conceptual topics from both an artistic and documentary viewpoint.

Storytelling
Living Room | 6, 7, and 8 pm

Coiling Baskets—Led by Verónica Ramírez Martell, educator and mixed-media artist

Aromatherapy Making—Led by Irischa M. Valentin, community herbalist and aromatherapist

Different aromas can evoke a healing energy that we each need in our lives. Join us for a sensory experience that welcomes the aromas and beauty of our plant allies. No experience needed.

Meditation in Movement + Stillness
Tapestry Room | 6:30, 7:15, 7:50, and 8:15 pm

Led by sadada, certified yoga teacher, trainer, and freelance educator

We spend our lives in a body, a body that takes in and lives through experiences. Practice breathing exercises, basic yoga postures, and meditation to cultivate space and experience your mourning and gratitude. No meditation or yoga experience is required to attend this session, but space is limited.

Thai Yoga Massage
