Musical Pairings

Enjoy two musical performances captured throughout the Gardner Museum this year in honor of the 2021 Gardner Gala. We hope you’ll feel transported to the Museum and inspired by seeing music fill the Gardner once again.

Fabiola Méndez

Aguinaldo Jíbaro performed by Fabiola Méndez, Puerto Rican cuatro. Fabiola Méndez is a Neighborhood Salon Luminary at the Gardner and the first ever Puerto Rican cuatro player to graduate from Berklee College of Music. In this video, before playing Aguinaldo Jíbaro throughout the Museum, Fabiola speaks about her experience with the Gardner, and what the Museum means to her.

Gabriela Díaz

J.S. Bach: Preludio from Partita No. 3 in E Major, performed by Gabriela Díaz, violin. Gabriela Díaz has been acclaimed as “a young violin master” and “one of Boston’s most valuable players” by critics. She is a faculty member of Wellesley College, co-artistic director of Winsor Music, and has played at the Gardner numerous times as a part of A Far Cry and Castle of our Skins. George Steel, Abrams Curator of Music, will introduce Gabriela and speak about Bach’s Preludio from Partita No. 3 and what it means to him, and the Gardner.
