Door Knocker, early 14th century
Iron, 15.9 cm (6 1/4 in.)
This is a small black iron door knocker, open in the center. The bottom is a wide, oval shape with a scrolling leaf pattern. It has two straight sections at the top, creating an open tapered neck. These straight sections are attached to a long thin hinge with a hole at the top for hanging on a door. At the bottom of the oval, and in relief, is a serene face in a raised square.
