There are two small, shallow bowls just outside the door to the right and a half filled white sack on the left side of the doorway sill. Other white sacks are arranged haphazardly around the elderly woman who appears to be examining an additional white sack in her lap.  She sits near the door, in the meager light it lets in, as she bends over and concentrates on her work. Her face and body are in profile. She is wearing a large, white cap that frames her face and hides her hair. Her clothing is modest and simple: a dark shawl over a light, long sleeved, ankle length, pin-striped dress. The small, narrow, room behind her is dark and crowded with an assortment of practical objects on shelves, tables, or hanging on the walls. Those objects include baskets, long necked bottles, pots, canisters, and more sacks. One small window, high on the left wall, lets in little light.
