Ring with Container, 19th century

This 19th century ring is made of enameled gold. The band of this ring is made of interwoven strands of gold that are adorned with black, gold and white enameled decoration. On the top of the ring is a container that is attached to the band with a small gold chain. The oval-shaped container has a gold grid on a black background around its bottom half, a graceful white and gold comma-shaped pattern on a black background around the top half, and another series of white and gold comma-shaped decorations at the very bottom. The ring shows few signs of wear.
