This is a small square lidded box from India with rounded corners made of nickel and lapis lazuli. The nickel sides are embellished with a basket weave pattern in relief. The top and bottom of the box are connected by a heavy, solid metal hinge. The side opposite the hinge on the top part of the box is fashioned with a small horizontal piece of nickel that protrudes slightly and is used to open the box. There is a long diagonal crack on the top peice of lapis lazuli due to damage.
