Free tours and public talks are offered nearly every day, from brief overviews to more in-depth discussions on particular aspects of the collection. Times for talks and tours are subject to change.

Introduction to the Gardner Museum Talk
Monday, Wednesday-Saturday, 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm
These 20-minute talks on the history of the Museum, the life of Isabella Gardner, and connections between the new wing and the historic building give visitors background to help them understand and enjoy their Museum experience before they enter the galleries. Talks take place in Calderwood Hall.
Public Tours
Space on tours is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Pick up tickets in the Living Room on the first floor of the new wing.
Architecture Tour
Monday, Wednesday-Friday, 12 pm
This tour focuses on the new Renzo Piano-designed wing as well as the architecture of the historic building created by Isabella Gardner.
Collection Highlights Tour
Monday, Wednesday-Friday, 2 pm
This tour discuss the formation and installation of the historic collection, as well as exploration and discussion of key works in the collection.
Spotlight Talks
Saturdays and Sundays, 12 pm, 1 pm and 2 pm
These talks encourage visitors to explore a single work of art in the collection through close looking and group discussion. Museum teachers will facilitate a 15-20 minute discussion of a select work with an approach that emphasizes inquiry, visitor response, and personal meaning-making. Focus objects will rotate periodically.
