Oh, You Red Sox!
Isabella Gardner was an avid Red Sox fan and season ticket holder. Following the team’s championship win over the New York Giants in 1912, the grand dame showed her support in unique fashion, attending a Boston Symphony Orchestra concert wearing a white headband on which she’d scrawled the words “Oh, you Red Sox!” The act prompted one local reporter to refer to her as “a woman… gone crazy.” Throughout the year, visitors to the Gardner Museum wearing Red Sox paraphernalia also receive a special $2 off admission. Visitors can also learn more about Isabella Gardner’s Red Sox connections in an archival information binder in the Living Room on the first floor of the new wing.
The University Membership Program at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum provides colleges and universities the opportunity to offer students and faculty complimentary museum admission. View a list participating universities, or learn more about University Membership.
