Visiting Studio Artist May-June 2019
For the Third Thursdays: The Sound of Pride in June 2019, the Museum collaborated with Daniel Corral to develop a Studio workshop in celebration of Pride Month.
Daniel invited Museum visitors to create their own mosaics that celebrated the pride within themselves, using a curated selection of images from the Gardner's collection, images of queer historical figures, and other thematically-related materials.
About the Artist
Daniel Corral’s work examines queen identity and spaces within their community and utilizes the camera obscura technique to create a portal between the private lives and public agency of each individual. Their photographic work also includes studies on immigration rights and policies through street vendors and community organizers in Los Angeles, California. Corral is a Boston and Los Angeles based artist. They studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Art at Tufts University.
