Waters of the Abyss: An Intersection of Spirit and Freedom

It would be our pleasure to welcome you to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum for this legendary evening of exceptional design, music, friendship, and support of innovative arts programming.

Boston school-aged students and two guests can gain free admission to participating institutions on the first two Sundays of each month by showing their Program Pass.  

Join a member of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum horticulture staff for a presentation about the role of plants at the Museum, past and present, followed by an hour-long guided experience through the galleries.

Tour the special exhibition in-person with a Museum Teacher and a small group of members.

Stop by the Bertucci Education Studio and join us for a drop-in, Stencil a Hat activity designed by Polly Thayer Starr Visiting Artist Rocky Cotard. Open Studios are free with Museum Admission, and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Arlen Heginbotham, conservator at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, will discuss some of the ways in which the field of art conservation is continuing to advance and innovate, and how the goals and vision laid out by George Stout, director of the Gardner Museum from 1955–1970, still serve as valuable guideposts for a field in transition.
 

Friends of Fenway Court Patrons at the Curators’ Circle and above are invited to a lecture and private reception with guest lecturer Arlen Heginbotham and conservators from the Gardner and across the field.
